Why is this night different from all other nights?
This question calls out to us every year as we gather around the table to retell the foundational story of our people, who suffered as slaves in Egypt, turning to God in search of redemption. We wonder, how are we different because of what our ancestors experienced? How have we evolved, embraced, and adapted traditions in a way that makes us different from other peoples?
We strive to do things differently on Passover as a way to dive into these questions, to explore what this story means to us, to challenge ourselves to continue to grow and make a difference.
In this spirit, we invite you to join us at Bet Shalom on the 2nd night of Passover for a different kind of seder. We will be exploring Sefardi Passover traditions and encouraging active participation in a number of cultural explorations surrounding food, music, and ritual. Our order, or seder, will still carry us through the story of our people, but will do so in a different kind of way.
