Veuve Ambal Cremant De Bourgogne NV @ $29.99: Winemaker notes: The nose is fresh and expressive, revealing aromas of white-fleshed fruit such as apple and pear, candied lemon and a subtle touch of brioche. On the palate, the attack is lively and harmonious, supported by fine bubbles and freshness. The finish is clean and persistent, marked by a pleasant sensation of lightness.
Domaine Wachau Federspiel Riesling 2022 @ $22.99: Winemaker notes: Delicate nectarine notes, citrus, wild herbs, and hints of passion fruit. On the palate juicy fruit aromas with an elegant structure, the lively acidity is perfectly balanced by the great fruit and depth of aromas.
Domaine Chignard Fleurie “Les Moriers” Gamay 2023 @ $31.99: Winemaker Notes: A name derived from the mulberry trees that used to grow on this slope, “Les Moriers” hints back to the time when Gamay vines were stripped and replaced with trees to breed silkworms for the silk industry of Lyon. The silk industry faded, the vines returned to their rightful place, and the parcel has regained its standing as the finest in Fleurie. James Suckling: Red sour cherries, hibiscus, dried flowers and terra cotta on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied with brilliant balance of concentration, nervy freshness and subtle, fine-grained tannins.
Delas Freres Chateauneuf-Du-Pape 2020 (90/10 Grenache/Syrah) @ $59.99/ Buy One Get One Free: Winemaker notes: The color is a deep garnet red. The nose of the "Haute Pierre" has strong spicy aromas that reveal a rich, powerful body that is delicate, yet has a tightly-knit tanninc framework. On the palate, the wine is rich and unctuous, revealing intense licorice-like flavors. It can easily be kept 10 years or more. Ideal with the traditional French and "Provençal" type-stews, along with braised and grilled meats. Wine Enthusiast: Aromas of black plum, blueberry, cassis, black licorice and olives waft through violets and dusty wood musk. The palate broods in fresh blackberries, raspberries, freshly ground black pepper and clove. This full-bodied expression has fine grippy tannins that trail into a black-tea finish.
Turley Old Vine Zinfandel 2022 @ $32.99: Grapes: 95% Zinfandel, 5% Mataro, Alicante Bouschet, Petite Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault. Wine Advocate: Wine Advocate: As with the Juvenile bottling, the 2022 Zinfandel Old Vines punches above its weight in this vintage. The nose is considerably deeper, fuller and more polished, opening with aromas of crushed plums, wild berry preserves, tobacco leaves and similar autumnal accents to its younger sibling. The palate is light- to medium-bodied, carrying through the polished quality of the nose and melds it with a subtly dusty tannin structure and bright acidity. The finish is straightforward and easy to drink, offering generous layers of fruit, spice and floral notes.
