Tour de France
“Tour de France” Wine Tasting, Bet Shalom Wine Club, July 12, 2025
20. Jura Mountains: Bourdy Crémant De Jura, Chardonnay, NV @ $24.99: Jean Bourdy is 15th generation of direct descendants in the Bourdy family, documented since 1475. He continues the tradition of producing wines as they were made up to 150 years ago from the Jura family estate. This chardy Crémant speaks to the heritage of the estate and cellars, with dusty stones, yeast, lemon pith, green apple, dried apple, dried peach, toasted hazelnuts, and mushroom notes drawing along the dry, lightly spiced palate. -Anthony Gismondi
15. Languedoc-Roussillon: Paul Mas Marsanne 2020 @ $13.98: Bright gold and straw hues. Aromas of honeydew, pears, and flowers. This well rounded wine is fresh and lively with a good acidity. The finish is very elegant with notes of honey. - Volio
18 and 19. Savoie: Les Rocailles Savoie Apremont, Jacquère 2021 @ $25.99: A bright, light wine, this is lively, full of crisp apple flavors. With its citrus fruits it is refreshing and tangy, ready to drink now. -Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast.
9. Loire Valley: Chinon La Varenne Tradition 2020, Cab Franc @ $25.99: While emphasizing red fruits, this wine also has structure and spice to give richness. It is a generous wine, with balanced acidity and a typical smoky aftertaste. -Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast.
11. Cahors: Georges Vigouroux Gouleyant, Malbec 2020 @ $13.99: Blend: 85% Malbec, 15% Merlot. Winemaker Notes: The wine has a dark red robe in the glass. The nose is respectful to Malbec with notes of ripe red and black fruit. The palate is elegant, with flavors of cherry and black berries, with soft tannins for a pleasant finish.
17. Rhone Valley North: Delas Crozes Hermitage Grand Chemins, Syrah 2020 @ $36.99: Winemaker Notes: The color is deep, with a garnet hue deepened by purple tinges. The nose shows seductive whiffs of crushed black fruit—dark cherries, blackberries and blackcurrants — that evolve in the glass to reveal slightly smoky and licorice notes, typical of "Le Chassis”. The texture is tannic but intense, pulpy, almost silky. This truly balanced wine expresses a nice complexity, generous and true to the genuine terroir of the Domaine des Grands Chemins. The wine's structure, along with its aromatic persistence, gives it a great potential for laying down.
