BASICS: What are your names and any nicknames?

Laurie and Kevin Toews

YOU: Tell us about you and your family.

Kevin and I have 3 grown children, Gabe who is turning 29, Alyssa who is 27, and Ben who is 25. We have lived in Minnetonka for the past 9 years and love the community. Kevin and I love dogs and do dog sitting for fun, too! We come from different religious backgrounds, but we both love Yiddish words and use them whenever we can!

BELONG: What does belonging to a synagogue mean to you?

Belonging to Bet shalom is so special to us both, to meet new people, come to services, and participate in new activities! I have been playing in the mahjong group that meets on Tuesdays, and love being a part of the Bet Shalom community. Kevin is a home builder, and is excited to help out on the building and grounds committee.

HERE: Why did you choose Bet Shalom?

We live right up the street from the synagogue. Fun fact, Rabbi Norman Cohen was my student rabbi in Cincinnati at Rockdale Temple when I was a child, right before he came to Minneapolis. Looking forward to meeting you all soon, l’hitraot!
