Yarok ירוק (Pre-K)

Hello Pre K families,

This week we kept it 'plane' and simple by learning how to fold paper airplanes! This is a unit I have been saving for our experienced pre-k students simply because this unit requires students to follow directions, have fine motor skills and experience with paper folding. Our students showed they have what it takes!

We practiced with simple origami, and then progressed to learning three variations of a basic paper airplane fold. We also practiced the hand hold and movement pattern that it takes to make a paper airplane fly. We also learned the basic movement and rotations of an airplane: Roll, Yaw, and Pitch. We had fun using that as our attention-getter for the week!

We also designed our paper airplanes with watercolors, crayons, and markers. Students learned about record breaking pilots like Bessy Coleman, Jaqueline Cochran, Amelia Earhart, and Charles Lindberg. We might have some future pilots, aerospace engineers or flight technicians in our numbers!

Have a great weekend,

Ms. Veronica and Ms. Langley
