Yarok ירוק (Pre-K)

Hello Yarok families!

This week we focused all on music! Monday we went through the history of music media, Ms. Langley brought in some records, cassettes, CDs and we talked about how we listen to music differently today with our phones or ipods! On Tuesday we made our own pan flutes. We made sure that all of our straws went in order from longest to shortest and tested them to hear the different notes the straws would make when we blew through them.

Wednesday we experimented with mason jars and water, adding and taking away water to hear different pitches of notes, seeing if more water made it lower and pouring water out to make the note higher. Thursday we focused on learning about the notes of a musical staff, FACE and EGBDF, and made our own songs using cars with the notes labeled on them. We ended our week by using rhythm sticks to make different tempos! Our friends played a call and response rhythm game, copying the different rhythms that Ms. Langley would play and we talked about how songs can be slow or very fast!

We had so much fun making our own music this week!
