Adom אדום (Older Toddlers)

We hope you all had a fun Fourth of July weekend!  Based on all the toddler talk this week about things being LOUD, we assume a lot of you went to see fireworks or went to a parade with a LOUD firetruck!  The kids loved bringing this up in conversation this week. :)

This week we decided to focus on horses because one of our toddlers is very into “neighs”.  There was much excitement on Tuesday when all the new horses and barn were discovered in the classroom. They got lots of practice sharing all of the most special horses.

On Tuesday we learned about horses and how they stand up to sleep!  Our activity was not related to horses though.  The last Young Family Shabbat event had a service project component making placemats for people receiving food from Meals on Wheels.  I had extra supplies left so the toddlers got to work making placemats for people in need of something to brighten their day.  The kids painted, stickered and glued their creations together.

Wednesday we had lots of fun during water play outside.  During activity time we read Brown Bear, Brown Bear and talked about the blue horse.  The kids know the horse's tail it used to swish away flies.  The kids painted horses standing at our easels.  They chose one extra color to combine with their blue.  There is something special about painting while standing up!

Thursday started off with morning work which consisted of peeling stickers off of a diaper box.  I had covered a box with lots of sticks which I found out (unfortunately) had really good adhesive.  The kids were able to peel a lot off but it sure took persistence!  For our activity we learned about how horses wear bridles, stirrups, saddles and horseshoes.

The kids used legos to build “stalls” for their horses to go in.

After lunch while we were calming down for nap time we strung beads on strings.  It was tricky, but fun!

On Friday we will start the day playing in our big sensory table with a horse theme and after Shabbat we will go out to the gaga pit with our horses and farms to play in the real grass.

We hope you all have a great weekend!

Shabbat Shalom,

Teachers Katie and Eric
