BASICS: What are your names and any nicknames?

Aly, Max, & Scarlett Hendrix

YOU: Tell us about you and your family.

Aly grew up in Santa Fe, NM. Her family was deeply involved in their congregation, Beth Shalom, and this led Aly to love Jewish community. Max grew up in Kenosha, WI. His family also was very involved in their congregation, Beth Hillel, and Max has always felt a deep connection to being in Jewish spaces. We met each other at URJ Kutz camp in Warwick, NY before both graduating from the University of Minnesota. Aly works at Jewish Family & Children's Service of Minneapolis in the development department and Max works remotely for BBYO in their Philanthropic Engagement department. We have lived in Minnetonka for almost 5 years now with our dog Bowen. In December 2023 we welcomed our daughter Scarlett to the world and our family.

BELONG: What does belonging to a synagogue mean to you?

Belonging to a synagogue means having a spiritual home for our daughter and us. We hope that this community will be a part of the village in which we raise Scarlett and that we have the chance to celebrate many life cycle & ritual moments with Bet Shalom Congregation.

HERE: Why did you choose Bet Shalom?

Aly is a former employee of Bet Shalom, so when it came time to consider joining a synagogue it was an easy choice. We are excited that we will belong to a congregation and preschool community that is within walking distance of our home and has already felt like a home for many years.
