Yarok ירוק (Pre-K)

Hello Yarok Families!

This week we took to the sky and learned all about birds!

Monday we went over the different body parts of a bird and what makes them so different from other animals on Earth. We talked about how different birds' feet are, whether they live by water or in trees, their beaks and why the shapes may be different because of the things they eat, and of course we had to include the wings so that our feathered friends could fly!

On Tuesday we reused some old paper towel tubes and made our own bird feeders with sun butter and bird feed!

Wednesday we talked about why it is that birds can fly. We talked about their wings, feathers and that birds have hollow bones! So many friends were surprised to learn that most birds have hollow bones and that they are so light so that birds can fly! We made our own birds to fly around the classroom that Ms. Langley hung up with invisible string!

Thursday we went out on a nature walk and hung up our bird feeders, we also stopped and listened to many of the birds chirping and tweeting around us!

On Friday we focused on how birds make their nests by making our own! We just used construction paper and glue but we read about how birds will find the right twigs and soft materials for their nests to be extra comfortable.

Only two more weeks of school, this summer just flew by!
