Yarok ירוק (Pre-K)

With the weather heating up, we are focusing on more summer themes, starting off with pirates! Monday we started out by using our imaginations and made our own treasure maps. We made sure that they looked just like old pirate maps with an X to mark the spot of our treasure. On Tuesday we designed flags for our pirate ships and showed off what our pirates would be like and what they like to do!

Since on Wednesdays we have music, afterwards we learned some new songs, a couple of sea shanties, that we could sing while sailing and swabbing the deck of our ship. On Thursday we used vinegar to “explode” gold bricks to find what was stuck inside them. We found lots of beads either made of wood, shell or shaped like turtles or skulls! We also talked about why vinegar reacts with the baking soda that the bricks were made out of.

We ended our week with a treasure hunt outside! Blackbeard only left us half of the map so we needed to find the other half first so that we could find the treasure chest. We were able to find it and inside were so many amazing treasures including gold doubloons! We had so much fun this week pretending to be pirates, taking turns captaining the ship and finding lots of treasures on distant lands.

We can’t believe that June is almost done!!
