Yarok ירוק (Pre-K)

Hello Yarok Families!

Spring has definitely sprung in our classroom this week with our topic of butterflies!

On Monday we learned the steps of  the life cycle of a butterfly and made our own cycles! Our own butterflies in the classroom are currently in their chrysalis phase and were anxiously awaiting for them to break out and spread their wings!

Tuesday we talked about how butterflies and moths are different from one another, even though they look a lot alike, and made symmetry butterflies by only painting one side of our butterflies and folding over the paper to create the pattern on the other side.

Wednesday we dug further into the anatomy of a butterfly, focusing on the proboscis and how butterflies are able to use it like a straw to drink up nectar from flowers. We made butterfly feeders to take home and put fruit into so that butterflies can stop along their way and pick up a nice snack.

On Thursday we used butterfly stamps (along with lots of flower stamps) to decorate part of graduation decorations! All of our friends had a great time being able to make butterflies fly all around and create flowers for them to drink from. Lastly, we discussed how in the world there are currently over 18,000 different species of butterflies so we created our own! We designed our own butterflies and gave them their own species name!

This week with Julian and Julia we focused on how to join in play, especially when we see that other friends are playing something that we would like to play too. We also talked about how we can politely ask our friends if we can join what they’re playing with.

Graduation is next week, we are so excited to celebrate and head into the summer!
