Sagol סגול (Preschool)

Shabbat Shalom Sagol families!

This week was “ocean of emotion” week in preschool. We combined fun ocean animals and dramatic play with getting to know our feelings. We even had a song called “make a funny face”that we sang every morning as we mimicked different facial expressions (happy, sad, etc).

Our preschoolers were very excited about our dramatic play- a homemade submarine! They looked through the telescope, and looked at the ocean through the windows.

Discussion was a huge part of our lessons on feelings. During circle time, we talked about coping mechanisms, what makes us feel sad or worried, and things that make us feel happy.

We had lots of fun opportunities for crafts within our ocean of emotion theme. We made sensory bottles with dye, orbiz, and glitter that students can use to calm their bodies when they are feeling sad or angry. We painted turtles shells on paper plates, and practiced our fine motor skills by putting beads on pipe cleaner “jellyfish legs”.

“The worry monsters don’t eat treats or snacks on any day. Instead they eat your worries and make them go away!”
Our favorite project of the week was our worry monsters. We read “The Very Hungry Worry Monsters” a book about fuzzy, goofy creatures that can make our worries disappear. Then we glued eyes, noses, mouths, teeth and ears on paper worry monster bodies to create our very own worry monsters.

Finally, we wish Luna a very happy fourth birthday! We had fun celebrating with you and enjoyed the cool gifts!

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to another week!
