Kahol כחול (Younger Toddler)

Hello and happy Friday to our Kahol families! We focused on weather this week and what a better time to discuss weather when it is at its most unpredictable. We did a lot of work with colors and textures to help us learn about weather!

We started the week out with an art project that didn't go as planned. Teachers Tira and Jen prepped paint covered yarn and placed it inside folded paper. Kiddos were asked to pull the string to hopefully reveal a tornado result. We may not have ended up with tornados but we did learn together some skills in patience and taking what we are given. We are going to use the art for a later project!

It may have been a little gloomy and wet outside but with a little rain comes beautiful rainbows! We did a project that involved a lot of follow direction and fine motor skills. Each kid was given a piece of paper that had the shape of a rainbow cut out with contact paper attached to the back. Then they were asked to use their little fingers to pinch but for most it was to grab tissue paper and put it in the proper place to make their own beautiful rainbow. Some kids were specific in their color choice while others were wanting all the colors.

Our last art project will be a lovely addition to our classroom once finished. It will a banner that will include lots of help from our little friends and hold our class motto of "Kind. Gentle. Patient."

Art is a great tool to help develop our kiddos' young minds. So the Kahol teachers are always looking for projects that ask the kids to do a variety of actions with their hands and bodies. Our activities also strive to help teach social and behavioral skills such as taking turns and practicing patience. It is such a pleasure for us to watch them grow in so many different ways.

Walks were a big hit this week as the weather got warmer. We made many loops around the pond and talked to the kids about the different effects weather has on the nature around the pond. We also discussed this many times while on the playground when some friends didn't want to wear their mittens!

This week concludes our big unit on spring and growth! The next few weeks we will focus on science related topics such as space and dinosaurs.

All the best!
