SAUVIGNON BLANC TASTING NOTES

BET SHALOM WINE CLUB, JULY 31, 2021

  1. Mason 2018 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc ($16.00) ($19 retail)

Winemaker's notes: Our Mason 2020 Sauvignon Blanc greets the nose with citrus, fig and peach. The bright, refreshing palate offers notes of grapefruit and minerality with creamy flavors of lime and citrus. This wine is a stunner with extraordinary mouthfeel and texture. (92 points Wine Spectator)

  1. Rochioli 2018 Russian River Valley Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc ($22.50) ($50 retail)

Winery Notes: Pure nose offers inviting passion fruit and melon aromas with citrus tones. The medium-bodied palate shows rich tropical fruit flavors, lifted by crisp acidity and a long finish.

  1. Cloudy Bay 2020 Marlborough, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc ($24.00)

Winemaker's notes: Nose: Bright and focused, ripe grapefruit, makrut lime and passionfruit. Palate: Mouth-watering, with zesty lime, lemongrass and juicy stone fruit characters melding together, underpinned by a subtle minerality.

  1. Florian Mollet 2018 Sancerre (Savignon Blanc) ($30.00)

Haskells' notes: Golden green. The nose opens up to notes of wild flowers backed by subtle         citrus fruit. Expressive attack on the palate exuding exotic fruit with refreshing exuberance and delicate balance. Classic Sancerre grown on the famous Silex (Flint soils) (like neighboring     Pouilly Fume.)

James Suckling notes: So much green papaya and mango character here. Medium to full body.    Lots of fruit and a creamy finish.

  1. Chateau Tour Leognan 2019 Pessac-Leognan White Bordeaux (70% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Semillon) ($25.00)

Winemaker's notes: a wine of pleasure, an assemblage characterized by Sauvignon which delivers notes of citrus fruits as well as a fleshy and elegant mouth. This lively and fruity combination is rounded by the sweetness and fatness of Semillon.
