Adult Hebrew Classes

Beginning Hebrew - Sundays, 9:00 am - 9:45 am (October 1 - May 13)
Intermediate Hebrew - Wednesdays, 5:45pm - 6:30 pm (October 25 - May 16)

Bet Shalom is offering beginning and intermediate Adult Hebrew classes that will meet during the 2017-2018 school year. Classes are taught by Dr. Nick J. Schaser, Visiting Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies at Macalester College. Click here for more details and registration. 

Traditional Torah Study

Please join Rabbi Locketz, Rabbi Crimmings and Rabbi Cohen for two opportunities each week to study Torah in our Jerusalem Room. The portion for the current week is discussed. Sunday session will only meet on weeks when Religious School is in session.

Sunday mornings from 9:00 am - 9:45 am (During Religious School Year) and Thursdays from noon to 1:00 pm (Bring your lunch!)

Beyond Torah Study - The Book of Jeremiah

Thursdays at 11:00 am, right before Torah Study.

Of all the Hebrew prophets, Jeremiah most closely parallels Moses. Speaking inOf all the Hebrew prophets, Jeremiah most closely parallels Moses. Speaking inthe time just before Israel’s exile to Babylon, Jeremiah called his people back tothe Mosaic covenant and, like Moses, was met with opposition. Yet Jeremiah’sprophecies also looked beyond Torah and described a future that both builtupon and furthered the work of Moses. In this four-week course, we will coverthe historical background of Jeremiah, as well as how the later rabbisunderstood some of Jeremiah's key concepts, including Torah observance,exile, persecution, and the covenantal relationship between God and Israel. This class will meet in the Jerusalem Room.

Judaism 101

The second Tuesday of each month, 5:30 - 7:00 pm

This class is free to members of Bet Shalom and $25 for non-members.
