Rabbi Crimmings 2014 crop for web

Rabbi Jill Crimmings is the Associate Rabbi at Bet Shalom Congregation.  Rabbi Crimmings grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in an unaffiliated and interfaith family.  She developed a deep pride in her Jewish identity at a young age and became an active leader in her high school youth group.  Her experiences growing up guided her understanding of the centrality of community, education, and personal relationships in Jewish life.

Rabbi Crimmings attended the University of Minnesota and received her Bachelor’s Degree in 2004 in Anthropology and Jewish Studies.  During her time in college, Rabbi Crimmings found her way to Bet Shalom as a teacher in the religious school and a youth group advisor.  Her experiences at Bet Shalom were transformative and ultimately inspired her to attend rabbinical school at Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion in New York City.

At HUC-JIR, Rabbi Crimmings was chosen as a recipient of the Mandel Fellowship where she worked together with a small cohort of classmates to develop skills in visionary leadership.  The fellowship gave her the opportunity to study an extra year at the College-Institute to earn a Masters of Arts in Religious Education in 2011.  In 2012, Rabbi Crimmings received her Masters of Arts in Hebrew Literature, while also completing training as a community organizer.  She was ordained from HUC-JIR in May 2013.

Rabbi Crimmings came to Bet Shalom as Rabbi Educator in June 2013. She worked to enhance our youth programming through her focus on our Pre-School, Religious School, and Youth Groups.  In addition to her work at Bet Shalom, Rabbi Crimmings also supports the broader Twin Cities Jewish Community by serving on the Yachad Education Committee and the Overseas Committee at the Minneapolis Jewish Federation.

Rabbi Crimmings is joined at Bet Shalom by her husband John, and their children, Ariella, Asher, and Emmett. They enjoy spending time together as a family in the great outdoors and cheering on their Green Bay Packers!
